2 Timothy 2:15 KJV

Seventy Weeks of Years (1)

Our FATHER, YHVH, has told us all things in HIS HOLY Word.

Eccl 1:9-10
9 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.
10 Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us. KJV

In this study, we shall be look at the "Seventy weeks" of years, as it applies to this final generation.

In no way does this study takes away from the longer view of the "Seventy weeks" utilizing the "gap theory", but only brings it into focus from a different viewpoint for this last generation.

You will also find several pages of History included in this study. This 'History' begins in the year 1492 A.D..
It is important that you make yourself familiar with this 'History', in order to understand the study.

Dan 9
1 In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, which was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans;
2 In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.

Before we can go any further, we have need to consider this "whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.".

"
that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem."

The number "
seventy" is indicative of "Universality" and refers to "Israel and Her Restoration".

Let us look at these definitions, so that there is no misunderstanding of YHVH'S Plan and Purpose.

"
that he would accomplish"

JEREMIAH ... "YHVH lifts up"
The major prophet during the decline and fall of the southern kingdom of Judah and author of the Book of Jeremiah. He prophesied during the reigns of the last five kings of Judah.
Jeremiah was born in the village of Anathoth, situated north of Jerusalem in the territory of Benjamin (Jer 1:1-2). He was called to the prophetic ministry in the 13 th year of Josiah's reign, about 627 B.C.. He must have been a young man at the time, since his ministry lasted for about 40 years-through the very last days of the nation of Judah when the capital city of Jerusalem was destroyed.

Jeremiah's call is one of the most instructive passages in his book. God declared that he had sanctioned him as a prophet even before he was born (Jer 1:5). But the young man responded with words of inadequacy: "Ah, Lord God!" (Jer 1:6). These words actually mean "No, Lord God!" Jeremiah pleaded that he was a youth and that he lacked the ability to speak. But God replied that he was being called not because of age or ability but because God had chosen him.

Immediately Jeremiah saw the hand of God reaching out and touching his mouth. "Behold, I have put My words in your mouth," God declared (Jer 1:9). From that moment, the words of the prophet were to be the words of God. And his ministry was to consist of tearing down and rebuilding, uprooting and replanting: "See, I have this day set you over the kingdoms, to root out and to pull down, to destroy and to throw down, to build and to plant" (Jer 1:10).

Because of the negative nature of Jeremiah's ministry, judgmental texts abound in his book. Jeremiah was destined from the very beginning to be a prophet of doom. He was even forbidden to marry so he could devote himself fully to the task of preaching God's judgment (Jer 16:1-13). A prophet of doom cannot be a happy man. All of Jeremiah's life was wrapped up in the knowledge that God was about to bring an end to the holy city and cast off His Covenant People.

Jeremiah is often called "the weeping prophet" because he wept openly about the sins of his nation (Jer 9:1). He was also depressed at times about the futility of his message. As the years passed and his words of judgment went unheeded, he lamented his unfortunate state: "O Lord, You induced me, and I was persuaded; You are stronger than I, and have prevailed. I am in derision daily; everyone mocks me" (Jer 20:7).

At times Jeremiah tried to hold back from his prophetic proclamation. But he found that the word of the Lord was "like a burning fire shut up in my bones" (Jer 20:9). He had no choice but to proclaim the harsh message of God's judgment.
Jeremiah did not weep and lament because of weakness, nor did he proclaim evil because of a dark and gloomy personality. He cried out because of his love for his people and his God. This characteristic of the prophet is actually a tribute to his sensitivity and deep concern. Jeremiah's laments remind us of the weeping of the Savior (Matt 23:37-39).

As Jeremiah predicted, the nation of Judah was eventually punished by God because of its sin and disobedience. In 587 BC Jerusalem was destroyed and the leading citizens were deported to Babylon. Jeremiah remained in Jerusalem with a group of his fellow citizens under the authority of a ruling governor appointed by Babylon. But he was forced to seek safety in Egypt after the people of Jerusalem revolted against Babylonian rule. He continued his preaching in Egypt (Jer 43-44). This is the last we hear of Jeremiah. There is no record of what happened to the prophet during these years of his ministry.

In the New Testament (KJV) Jeremiah was referred to as Jeremy (Matt 2:17; 27:9) and Jeremias (Matt 16:14).

Note when FATHER'S HOLY SPIRIT overtook Jeremiah's spirit.
Jer 1:9 "Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth."  KJV

This can be likened unto the 2nd Baptism, in that YHVH'S Words were the only words which would flow forth through Jeremiah's vocal cords and from his mouth, from that day forth.

Let us look at the second Baptism, the Baptism of YHVH'S HOLY SPIRIT.

907 baptizo-
1) to dip repeatedly, to immerse, to submerge (used of vessels sunk)
2) to cleanse by dipping or submerging, to wash, to make clean with water,
to wash oneself, to bathe
3) to overwhelm Not to be confused with 0911, bapto.
The clearest example that shows the meaning of baptizo is a text from the Greek poet and physician Nicander,
who lived about 200 B. C. It is a recipe for making pickles and is helpful because it uses both words.
Nicander says that in order to make a pickle, the vegetable should first be `dipped' (bapto) into boiling water and then `baptized' (baptizo) in the vinegar solution. Both verbs concern the immersing of vegetables in a solution. But the first is temporary.
The second, the act of baptizing the vegetable, produces a permanent change.
When used in the New Testament, this word more often refers to our union and identification with Christ than to our water baptism. For example, Mark 16:16. `He that believes and is baptized shall be saved'. Christ is saying that mere intellectual assent is not enough. There must be a union with him, a real change, like the vegetable to the pickle! --Bible Study Magazine, James Montgomery Boice (May, 1989).

Jeremiah no longer had any "freewill". His 'will' was given over to YHVH completely.
Therefore, any coming against Jeremiah, would be really coming against YHVH.

JOSIAH
The 16 th king of Judah, the son of AMON, and the grandson of Manasseh (2 Kings 21:23-23:30). The three decades of Josiah's reign were characterized by peace, prosperity, and reform. Hence, they were among the happiest years experienced by Judah. King Josiah devoted himself to pleasing God and reinstituting Israel's observance of the Mosaic Law. That a wicked king like Amon could have such a godly son and successor is a tribute to the grace of God. The Bible focuses almost exclusively on Josiah's spiritual reform, which climaxed in the 18 th year of his reign with the discovery of the Book of the Law.

Josiah's reform actually occurred in three stages. Ascending to the throne at age eight, he apparently was blessed with God-fearing advisors who resisted the idolatrous influence of his father. More importantly, however, at the age of 16 (stage one), Josiah personally "began to seek the God of his father David" (2 Chron 34:3).

At the age of 20 (stage two), Josiah began to cleanse Jerusalem and the land of Judah of idolatrous objects (2 Chron 34:3-7). His reform was even more extensive than that of his predecessor, HEZEKIAH (2 Kings 18:4; 2 Chron 29:3-36). Josiah extended his cleansing of the land into the territory of fallen Israel; at the time Israel was nominally controlled by Assyria. Josiah personally supervised the destruction of the altars of the Baals, the incense altars, the wooden images, the carved images, and the molded images as far north as the cities of Naphtali. Josiah's efforts were aided by the death of the great Assyrian king, Ashurbanipal, which brought about a serious decline in Assyria's power and allowed Josiah freedom to pursue his reforms.

At the age of 26 (stage three), Josiah ordered that the Temple be repaired under the supervision of Hilkiah, the high priest. In the process, a copy of the Book of the Law was discovered (2 Chron 34:14-15). When it was read to Josiah, he was horrified to learn how far Judah had departed from the law of God. This discovery provided a new momentum for the reformation that was already in progress.

In 609 BC Josiah attempted to block Pharaoh Necho II of Egypt as he marched north to assist Assyria in her fight with Babylon for world supremacy. Despite the Pharaoh's assurance to the contrary, Josiah saw Necho's northern campaign as a threat to Judah's security. When he engaged Necho in battle at Megiddo, Josiah was seriously injured. He was returned to Jerusalem, where he died after reigning 31 years. His death was followed by widespread lamentation (2 Chron 35:20-27). In the New Testament, Josiah is referred to as Josias (Matt 1:10, KJV).

JERUSALEM
As Jesus had prophesied in Matt 23, the city of Jerusalem was completely destroyed in A.D. 70 AD. The Temple was destroyed, and the high priesthood and the SANHEDRIN were abolished. Eventually, a Roman city was erected on the site, and Jerusalem was regarded as forbidden ground for the Jews.

Let me caution you not to confuse this "seventy years" period with the "Seventy weeks" (of years), Daniel 9:24.

What did Daniel understand (comprehend)?
"
I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem."

Daniel understood this ‘seventy year’ period, and the reasons for the "
desolations of Jerusalem".

Dan 9

3 And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplication, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:
4 And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;
5 We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments:
6 Neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.
7 O Lord, righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against thee.

Daniel understood just how sottish the people were (are).
And, FATHER had needed Daniel to understand these things, just as HE would have us understand.

Jer 4:22  For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge. KJV

Dan 9
8 O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.

Not only the individual people, but also "to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee."

This is to say that our civil governments, our civil laws, our rulers who are not perfect, but are earthly flesh men (for the people wanted flesh men kings/leaders to rule over them rather than YHVH), and all the other people we have placed in positions of authority to rule over us in the past and in the present.

This "
confusion of face" refers to "shame".
And, "shame" often drives men even further into "confusion".

Dan 9

9 To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him;
10 Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.

"To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses"
Our FATHER authored/created compassion and tender love. And, HE has the capacity to forgive us of even some of the most horrific sins, yet, we (as a people) have rebelled and still yet rebel against HIM.
It is as if we bite the very Hand that feeds us.

Why do we (earthly flesh men) do this?

Dan 9

11 Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against him.
12 And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem.
13 As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: yet made we not our prayer before the LORD our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth.

"Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law" {Exodus, chapters 20 through 23}

Not only Israel (the 12 tribes), but also the whole world.
Yet, until the ethnos are given a genuine opportunity to hear and understand YHVH'S unvarnished Holy Truth, they can not be held totally responsible.

Dan 9

14 Therefore hath the LORD watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us: for the LORD our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth: for we obeyed not his voice.
15 And now, O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast gotten thee renown, as at this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly.

Dan 9

16 O Lord, according to all thy righteousness, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to all that are about us.

Dan 9

17 Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of thy servant, and his supplications, and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord's sake.

For our sakes? No.
For HIS, 'Adonay YHVH'S sake.

Dan 9

18 O my God, incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great mercies.
19 O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake, O my God: for thy city and thy people are called by thy name.

Have you ever prayed to Our FATHER as honestly, as deeply, and as sincerely as Daniel?
Have you made supplication unto FATHER'S for HIS sake?

We must realize that FATHER is so very hurt by HIS children, especially, those of Israel (the twelve tribes) to whom HE has blessed so much.
We have tears, sympathy or empathy for man, animals, and things, but, do we have understanding of Our FATHER'S emotions?

Dan 9

20 And whiles I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God;
21 Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation.
22 And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding.
23 At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.

Gabriel ("even the man Gabriel")
OT:376
'iysh (eesh); contracted for OT:582 [or perhaps rather from an unused root meaning to be extant]; a man as an individual or a male person; often used as an adjunct to a more definite term (and in such cases frequently not expressed in translation):
KJV - also, another, any (man), a certain, champion, consent, each, every (one), fellow, [foot-, husband-] man, [good-, great, mighty) man, he, high (degree), him (that is), husband, man [-kind], none, one, people, person, steward, what (man) soever, whoso (-ever), worthy. Compare OT:802.

Gabriel is an ArchAngel, therefore, he has never been born in earthly flesh.
It was/is against YHVH'S Law for one of HIS 'Elohiym to be born of "the water".

We know that Satan's fallen angels (former members of YHVH'S Governmental Hierarchy, 'Elohiym) unlawfully mated with earthly flesh women, and created gibbors  (vessels/bodies [clones] of themselves). Yet, these fallen angels had already been condemned to perish because they were able to commit (were held responsible because of the greater power and knowledge that they possessed as 'Elohiym) and did committed 'the unforgivable sin' in the 1st Heaven age/dimension.

All who have or will be "
born of water", legally (lawfully, according to YHVH'S Law) must do so by direction of YHVH'S HOLY "Spirit", and according to HIS timing and HOLY Plan.

John 3:5  Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. KJV

---
Why has FATHER sent the Archangel Gabriel unto Daniel?
"
O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding."

What is "
skill"?  What is "understanding"?

"
to give thee skill"
OT:7919
sakal (saw-kal'); a primitive root; to be (causatively, make or act) circumspect and hence, intelligent:
KJV - consider, expert, instruct, prosper, (deal) prudent (-ly), (give) skill (-ful), have good success, teach, (have, make to) understand (-ing), wisdom, (be, behaveself, consider, make) wise (-ly), guide wittingly.
(Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright (c) 1994, Biblesoft and International Bible Translators, Inc.)

"
understanding"
OT:998
biynah (bee-naw'); from OT:995; understanding:
KJV - knowledge, meaning, perfectly, understanding, wisdom.
OT:995
biyn (bene); a primitive root; to separate mentally (or distinguish), i.e.(generally) understand:
KJV - attend, consider, be cunning, diligently, direct, discern, eloquent, feel, inform, instruct, have intelligence, know, look well to, mark, perceive, be prudent, regard, (can) skill (-full), teach, think, (cause, make to, get, give, have) understand (-ing), view, (deal) wise (-ly, man).
(Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright (c) 1994, Biblesoft and International Bible Translators, Inc.)

Daniel was given the ability to hear and fully comprehend this message, the prophecy, and the instructions which YHVH sent to him through Gabriel.

Now, the question is, "Can we understand it completely?"
We can work on it, and do our best, while listening to that which YHVH has given unto us in HIS HOLY Word, and through HIS HOLY SPIRIT.

2 Tim 2:15-16
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. KJV

Eccl 1:9-11
9 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.
10 Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.
11 There is no remembrance of former things; neither shall there be any remembrance of things that are to come with those that shall come after. KJV

FATHER has given unto us some good scholars.
And, some of these goodly servants unto YHVH have spoken of the "gap theory", which comes between the first 'sixty-nine' "weeks" of years, and the last "week" of years in Daniel 9:24-26 and  Daniel 9:27.

This is an excellent theory, which gives a good look at prophecy which was to occur over a long period of time.

Now, since "
The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be" and "that which is done is that which shall be done", and we  know  there is "no new thing under the sun", then it is conceivable and likely that this "Seventy weeks" can be seen repeated, and from different viewpoints according to the generation through YHVH'S HOLY Word.

This is the final generation of earthly flesh. We are living in the "end times", and experiencing so much that was prophesied to occur in these end days.

In the next portion of this study, we shall be considering this "
Seventy weeks" of years in a little different way
than the "gap theory".

---

So, let us look at these "
Seventy weeks" in a little different way, without use of the "gap theory".
This, in no way, takes away from the longer view of the "
Seventy weeks" utilizing the "gap theory", but only brings it into focus from a different viewpoint for this last generation.

Dan 9

24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

"Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy."

It is important that we understand correctly that which was written.
Let us first look at the definitions for the words written.

This "
Seventy weeks" refers to 'seventy weeks of years'.
It is in reference to "
weeks" (counting by sevens) as was documented in Leviticus 25. {
More on this shall be presented later in this study.}

SEVENTY WEEKS
A term that the prophet Daniel used in his prophecy of the future (Dan 9:24-27). In Daniel's vision, God revealed that the Captivity of His people in Babylon would come to an end and they would be restored to glory as a nation within a period of 70 weeks of seven years each-or a total of 490 years.

Scholars interpret this seventy weeks prophecy in different ways. Some insist that Daniel is not a book of prophecy at all but that he was writing about events that had already happened. Others believe the 490-year period came to a grand climax with Jesus' death on the cross. Still others believe this prophecy is yet to be fulfilled in the future.
